EFCC says PDP spokesman’s continued detention legal

This is following a comment credited to the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Victor Kwon claiming the anti-graft agency is detaining Metuh illegally.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a press statement reportedly released by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Olisa Metuh, is not being held illegally.

This is following a comment credited to the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Victor Kwon claiming the anti-graft agency is detaining Metuh illegally.

In its response, the EFCC reportedly said “…Metuh, contrary to claims by his party, is not being detained illegally as the commission obtained a valid court order to hold him.”

Adding that “There is no basis for a witch-hunt of Metuh. Nigerians are assured that he will be released once he satisfies the condition for the discretion to be exercised in his favor. Until that is done, the commission will not be intimidated or stampeded by any campaign of calumny that is intended to detract it.”

The EFCC chairman in another forum with newsmen, hinted that the PDP spokesman, was not co-operating with the agency.

Magu said ‘But this other Metuh, instead of going for a refund, he has admitted he collected money, so instead of returning it, he still has the money because the money is too much. Instead of returning the money, he preferred to go on strike.’

The EFCC arrested Metuh, after it  traced the sum of N1.4 billion to a company linked to him.
