The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, confirmed on Saturday, March 28, that hoodlums had attacked the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa.

He told newsmen in Lagos that the police are investigating the incident to bring the perpetrators to book.

Opeifa had earlier announced that his residence and the INEC office in the Agege Local Government Area were attacked by hoodlums at about 11:45 p.m. on Friday, March 27.

The commissioner explained that at about 11:45 p.m. on Friday, suspected thugs stormed ‎the Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, shooting sporadically and vandalising property.

"After they had attacked the council, they also attacked the INEC Agege Office situated close to the LCDA, before coming here to fire shots at my house, scared people out of sight and damaged cars," he said.

Opeifa later conducted reporters round some of the affected places in his house where gun shots and bottles left damaging marks.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there were bullet holes in his living room window glasses and the front wall of his house.

He also showed a damaged car parked outside his gate.
