The results of the primaries was announced in Benin on Sunday, June 19, by the leader of the APC national delegation who conducted the election and Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari.
Godwin Obaseki emerges APC governorship candidate
Obaseki beat 11 other candidates who contested in the primary election held in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday, June 18.

According to him, Obaseki scored 1,618 votes to defeat his 11 opponents.
Other aspirants include the incumbent Deputy Governor Pius Odubu, who polled 471 votes; former Minister of State for Works, Chris Ogiemwonyi, 137 votes; Ken Imasuagbon, 247 votes; a former governor of the state, Osariemen Osunbor, eight votes and Ebegue Amadasu, who also polled eight votes.
Others are Charles Airhiabvere, a retired major general, 11 votes; Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula, 10 votes; Austin Emuan, seven votes; Blessing Agbomhere, fives votes, and the only female aspirant, Tina Agbarha, three votes.
A total of 2,771 delegates were said to have been present at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, venue of the primary.
