Once upon a time, the major function of the mobile phone was being able to make phone calls from anywhere. But with the evolution of smartphones, additional functions and tasks have been added to this device - one of them being the ability to also take pictures.
“Taking photos or using a camera phone is the top one usage of mobile phone users”, Vice President, Global Product Marketing, Huawei, Clement Wong shared with Pulse Nigeria at the Huawei headquarters in China.
Most recently in April 2016 the firm launched its new flagship device into the market - the Huawei P9 that comes with not just one but two 12 mega pixel lenses at the back and an eight megapixel front-facing camera.
Here are some features of the the P9 camera:
1. Dual lens
One of the key features of the phone is its dual lens. One lens is coloured while the other is mono chrome. The lens are Leica 12 mega pixel Summarit H 1:2.2/27 ASPH sensor array. This enables one to capture high quality images. You also have the option of shooting directly in black and white as though you were using black and white film.

2. Presence of aperture
The camera allows more light in than the normal camera phone and gives you the opportunity to change the aperture with its macro mode. The device has two wide-aperture, f/1.1 sensors.
3. Laser auto focus
The device has a depth image-signal processor as well as laser and auto focus abilities. As an amatuer photographer, it automatically provides the opportunity to make changes for both short and long range photography.
4. Camera modes
There are fourteen different camera modes including beauty, monochrome, HDR, panorama, light painting, night shot and more.
5. Professional shooting mode
Despite being a slim phone, the P9 has the same functionality as a DSLR camera. If you are a professional photographer, you can switch to professional mode and manually edit the output of your photograph by changing the focus, ISO, shutter speed and more.
Interestingly, rather than you having to go to an app to watermark your images you can do so directly from your camera function.
