Governor Olusegun Mimiko, formerly of the Labour Party (LP), has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party after making an official declaration at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday, October 2.

The governor also revealed that he would be defecting to the PDP along with LP legislators in the state and members of the State Executive Council.

Mimiko reportedly said:

“…I, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, following extensive consultations across the land, today formally announce the decision of members of National Assembly from the Labour Party in Ondo State, members of the Labour Party in the Ondo State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council and indeed all those who share our aspirations, to join the PDP.”

The governor added that it was tempting to remain in the LP but the decision to move to the ruling party was taken in the overall interest of the nation.
