Boko Haram Planning To Take Over Maiduguri

The terrorist sect is said to be planning a major move to gain control of the Borno capital

According to reports, terrorist sect, Boko Haram is planning to take over Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

A source told Sahara Reporters that the Nigerian military is still gathering intelligence on the proposed attack to enable it counter any offensive launched by the terrorists.

Boko Haram has reportedly been placing its best fighters at strategic points near Maiduguri to prepare for the attack, the senior officer said.

“We have identified that one of their major operational bases is 10 miles from a major [Nigerian] army barracks, known as Giwa barracks,” he added.

The officer however said that there is no need to panic

“I can assure you that the Nigerian Army is ready to defend Maiduguri,” he said

Boko Haram has unleashed a reign of terror in Borno state leading to the declaration of a state of emergency in May 2013.
