Documentary On Afrobeat Legend To Hit Cinemas This October

A documentary about the life and times of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti will hit cinema screens in Nigeria this October.

Three years after the Broadway play Fela! was staged in Nigeria, a documentary about the enigmatic creator of Afrobeat Fela Anikulapo-Kuti will be screening in Nigeria soon. The documentary titled 'Finding Fela' explores his life, music, and political importance.

'Finding Fela' is directed by Alex Gibney and produced by Jack Gulick & Gibney. The documentary features a collection of interviews from worldwide celebrities inspired by his music and philosophy. The Kutis, Femi, Yeni, and Seun were also interviewed. His album designer/photographer Lemi Ghariokwu, band member Tony Allen, Sandra Izsadore, Bill T. Jones, Paul McCartney, Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson were also featured in the doc.

The documentary will start screening in Nigeria as from 17th October 2014. The premiere will be held at the New Afrika Shrine on the 12th of October which marks the start of Felabration (from 12th  – 19th October 2014).

The documentary will be distributed by Silverbird Film Distribution W.A and shown to the general public.
