4 Nollywood movies with glaring similar plot

Despite having different directors, producers, cast and even writers, there are always going to be Nollywood movies with eerily similar plots.

There are infinite numbers of stories that have been told repeatedly. Despite the entertaining element present in these movies, their similarity is effortlessly glaring.

There have an interesting plot; man falls in love with the wrong twin, woman falls in love with the wrong twin, someone has amnesia and can't remember the love of his/her life, an accident takes a twin and the other has to stand in - it's easy to understand why filmmakers can't let go of these riveting storyline.

Pulse movies is taking a look at Nollywood movies with an obvious similar plot.

Here we go;

1. "Brother's Keeper"

The movie tells the story of a young man who is devastated by the sudden death of his twin brother. His behaviour changes so dramatically that his wife begins to suspect that there is more to her husband's drastic change in attitude.

Mena(Oboni Oboli) loses her husband, Chude (Majid Michel) and son, David, the same day, but her husband’s twin Chidi (Majid Michel) pretends to be the late Chude.

2. "Being Mrs Elliott"

Two women, in a simple twist of fate, find their worlds colliding with each other. Their lives are turned upside down as they meet two men, who are on a different path in life until unusual circumstances bring the women into their lives. In a maze of deception, lust, pain, jealousy and intrigues their lives are rearranged in ways that they did not foresee as they try to make sense of finding love in unusual places.

Lara (Omoni Oboli) who is married to Bill (Majid Michel), and Fisayo (Uru Eke) are involved in a ghastly motor accident.  Fisayo needs reconstructive surgery and following the surgery, her face is mistakenly recreated to look like Lara’s.

Following the accident and surgery, their lives are rearranged, and love is found in different places.

3. "Darima's Dilemma"

The movie tells the story of a young lady Darima who is happily married to her husband but harbours a secret that destroys the marriage.

In "Darima's Dilemma,"  Dise (Mbong Amata) hesitantly stands in for her sister Darima [Mbong Amata] in her matrimonial home while the later goes off with her former boyfriend.

There's an accident and Darima loses her life, and Dise finds herself stuck in Darima's matrimonial home, falling in love with her husband [Majid Michel].

4. "Forgetting June" 

In "Forgetting June," Eddie [Majid Michel] loses his wife June [Mbong Amata] in a car accident. Along the line, he falls in love with her best friend, Tobi. [Beverly Naya].

Tobi and Eddie get married, and a year later, June returns to their lives as she was saved by George (Blossom Chukwujekwu).

These Nollywood movies have a similar cast, same lead male actor, and a plot that screams 'deja vu.'

"Brother's Keeper" and "Forgetting June" are directed by Ikechukwu Onyeka. Mbong Amata stars in "Forgetting June" and "Darima's Dilemma." Omoni Oboli stars in "Being Mrs Elliott" and "Brother's Keeper." Beverly Naya stars in "Forgetting June"and "Brother's Keeper."

In these movies except "Forgetting June," there is a behavioural change in a spouse and the other spouse fails to notice a physical change that clearly states 'this is not your spouse.'

Despite their similar plots, these movies made an interesting watch, especially, "Being Mrs Elliott."
