Channel to introduce fresh content to programmes schedule

Entertainment brand reveals new content and plans in Africa.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa has announced the launch of new programmes on BET (DStv channel 129).

Over the next few months, locally produced content will come to the fore on the channel. The channel introduces "BET Buzz", which is an entertainment news show (comprising of local and international stories) airing daily. Also coming soon is a brand new series of Top Actor tagged “Top Actor Africa”. The show currently in production is set to air in early 2016.

Next month a 2-part documentary about South African designer David Tlale will be aired.

“We are delighted to add this rich mix of contemporary and classic reality shows, drama, family friendly sitcoms, entertainment news, comedy and more to the BET schedule, providing a daily celebration of African and African-American culture that is as uplifting as it is entertaining”, Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, VIMN Africa said during a media hangout in Lagos yesterday October 14, 2015.

Also present at the media hangout were Head of Marketing and Operations VIMN Africa, Lagos Colette Otusheso and R&B singer Darey Art Alade.

It was also revealed that the brand will be engaging with fans on the continent at the upcoming BET Experience Africa which will be hosted in South Africa in December.

Also coming to the 24-hour channel is an urban movie night on Saturday’s. Classics like “Black Chocolate Nutcracker”, “Let The Church Say Amen” and Eddie Murphy’s “Best Defence” will be shown on the slot.

BET Africa was launched on DStv on April 2, 2015.
