"Half of a Yellow Sun" actress joins TV series "Power"

"Dreamgirls" and "Half of a Yellow" star, Anika Noni Rose, is the latest addition to the cast of Starz hit series "Power."

According to the report, Rose has been cast in the role of LaVerne Thomas, a cop with street smarts from Tommy and Ghost’s old neighborhood.

The actress is reportedly joining the drama series for multiple episodes in the upcoming third season, which is set to return in 2016.

Rose won a Tony Award for her role in the Tony Kushner-Jeanine Tesori musical "Caroline.

"Power" is an American drama television series created by Courtney Kemp Agboh and produced by the rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. It premiered on June 5, 2014.
