APC leader says he killed his personal ambition for party to win

Tinubu said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was able to stay in power for 16 years, because the opposition parties were smaller.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and former Governor of Lags state, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he sacrificed a lot of things for APC to win.

He made this revelation at the 70th birthday celebration and book launch of  National Democratic Coalition chieftain, Prof. Segun Gbadegesin.

Tinubu said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was able to stay in power for 16 years, because the opposition parties were smaller.

According to Punch Newspapers, he said he had to  “suppress their personal ambitions to be able to chase away the PDP government led by former President Goodluck Jonathan, because in the past those who float political parties end up as its chairman and presidential candidate.”

You will recall sometime ago, that Senator Femi Okunrounmu, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, said that President Muhammadu Buhari tricked Tinubu to get into power.

The merger of the various parties also came with their various challenges.

Notable, was the chaos that followed the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President. A move Tinubu viewed as disloyal.
