FG wants Senate President arrested for absence at corruption trial

The Code of Conduct Bureau has accused Saraki of 13 counts of corruption and his trial commenced today, September 18, 2015.

The Federal Ministry of Justice is seeking the arrest of Senate President, Bukola Saraki over his absence at an ongoing corruption trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The Code of Conduct Bureau has accused Saraki of 13 counts of corruption and his trial commenced today, September 18, 2015.

A deputy director in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, M.S. Hassan, who filed the charges against Saraki, applied for the arrest order.

The Senate President failed to appear at the trial but instead sent his team of lawyers to the tribunal.

Saraki’s lawyers presented the tribunal with a copy of the ruling of an Abuja Federal High Court which summoned the Ministry of Justice to appear on Monday to show cause why the trial should be allowed to proceed.

Saraki has denied the allegations against him and described them as mischievous.
