The presidency has released a statement to clear the air on President Muhammadu Buharis arrangement of working from home while renovations are ongoing in his office.

According to the president's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, reports of the president working from home have been misrepresented to make it seem like the president is unfit to carry out his duties.

He said the ongoing renovations are a result of the president's absence from the office, but that he has another fully equipped office in his home where he has been working from.

He said, "I'm seeing different slants and interpretations given to the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is working from the office in his house for now. I can't understand what the fuss is all about because the same complex accommodates the house and the office area

"Now, the regular office needs some renovations because 103 days of absence affected it. There was some deterioration there so it needs to be renovated and there is an office in the house that is almost a replica of the regular office. That is where he is working from.

"But the reporter has given the impression that Mr. President is luxuriating at home. No, he works in the office in the house.

"In the office in the house is where he signed a letter to the National Assembly intimating them of his return to work; it was there he met Vice President (Yemi) Osinbajo.

"As we speak, he is meeting the service chiefs there now, so the work is going on without let or hinderance.

"When I see headlines like 'Buhari works from home' trying to insinuate that he is not fully fit to work from the regular office, I think that's disinformation and misinformation, and we need to adequately report and reflect whatever is happening."

President Buhari resumed his official duties on Monday, August 21, after making his return to the country on Saturday, August 19, 103 days after he left for London to resume treatment for an undisclosed illness.
