No land in Ondo for grazing reserve - Governor says

Mimiko said the constitution also gives state Governors the power to allocate and revoke land as they desire.

Mimiko said there was no land in his state to create a grazing reserve, adding that the bill will not see the light of day.

The Ondo Governor also added that the planned bill is unconstitutional.

Governor Mimiko said “The question now is for how long shall we continue to call for peace in the face of the prevailing situation; definitely something has to be done.

“No law has vested power on any person be it commission or whatever name it is called to take land for any use without the approval of the governor.”

Governor Abiola Ajimobi has allocated land for grazing to Fulani herdsmen in a bid to stop the clashes involving farmers in the state and the cattle rearers.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has also banned Fulani herdsmen from grazing in the state.
