NAF to take delivery of attack aircraft from Russia, Brazil, Pakistan

According to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, the expected aircraft include four Mi-35m attack helicopters from Russia, three Super Tucano from the Brazilian Air Force and three JF-17 Thunder from Pakistan.

Abubakar disclosed this in Abuja on Wednesday, November 16, while speaking at the NAF’s operations seminar with the theme, 'Developing Effective Air Power Responses to National Security Challenges in Nigeria.'

It had earlier been reported that the United States placed an embargo on Nigeria from buying arms from  Russia, Pakistan and Brazil.

But the Air Marshal said Nigeria has the full backing of the US in the fight against insurgency in the northeast.

"All I can tell you is that the US is supporting in the North East, they are helping us with a lot of intelligence, so I don’t see any reason why we should have difficulties," he said.

Abubakar also said 10 Super Mushack primary trainer from Pakistan will also be inducted into the NAF.
