A 42-year-old woman, Funmilayo Ogunrinola, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates' Court for allegedly kidnapping one Kazeem Sodiq, 37.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Eigbejiale, the accused committed the alleged offence on Aug. 3 at about 2:00p.m. at Sabo via Ilupeju, in Abeokuta.

He said that the accused conspired with others still at large to kidnap Sodiq, a commercial motorcyclist.

Eigbejiale added that the accused hired Sodiq to help him carry some bags of cement to a certain place.

"Thereafter, the motorcyclist, the motorcycle and the bags of cement could not be found.

"People, who were aware of what transpired, especially the disappearance of Sodiq, raised an alarm, which eventually led to the arrest of the accused," he said.

He said that the offence contravened Section 364 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, whose plea was not taken by the court, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Anthony Araba, however, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Araba adjourned the case to Sept. 18.
