Fulani Herdsmen

Oyebade brokered the peace deal between the warring parties on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, Nigerian Army School of Artillery, Kachia.

While reading the resolution of the meeting to newsmen, the General said “We agreed that there will be an immediate stoppage to all forms of violent activities from all the stakeholders. We want to encourage the setting up of peace and reconciliation committees at the ward level, district level and the local government level by the Fulani herdsmen, the locals and other critical stakeholders in the various communities.

“It has also been agreed that children would stop grazing cattle in Kaduna State and in the North-West zone.”

This is coming on the heels of the condemnation of the attacks by the Southern Kaduna Elders Consultative Forum, who called on the government to bring the menace of the herdsmen to an end.

On Thursday, October 27, 2016, suspected Fulani herdsmen killed seven people and left many others injured in Ungwar Missi village in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
