64 Nigerians dead, 244 missing - NAHCON

According to Mana, the deceased were pilgrims from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Ekiti, Jigawa, FCT, Cross Rivers, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers Sokoto, Yobe, Taraba, and Zamfara.

The number of Nigerians who died in the Hajj stampede of Thursday, September 24, has risen to 64.

This was disclosed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Tuesday, September 29.

According to Alhaji Uba Mana, the Director, Public Affairs of NAHCON, 244 Nigerians have also been declared missing.

The number of Nigerians who died in the incident was earlier put at 56 by NAHCON.

The update follows an order given by President Muhammadu Buhari for an urgent head count of all Nigerian pilgrims to ascertain the actual casualty figure.
