‘Senate probe of Lamorde is revenge for investigation of Saraki’s wife,’ Official says

The Senate is set to probe Lamorde for the alleged diversion of N1 trillion recovered from corrupt politicians.

Ibrahim Lamorde-EFCC Chairman.

An official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that the planned probe of the agency’s boss, Ibrahim Lamorde by the Senate is due to the ongoing investigation of Toyin Saraki, Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s wife.

The probe is set to be conducted by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions and will begin on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

The official, who chose to remain anonymous, told The Cable:

“There is nothing like summon or official invitation from the Senate. What is supposedly petition by the senate is something engineered by the leadership of the senate because we are investigating the wife of the senate President”.
