The ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the arms deal, has led to the arrest of Air Vice Marshal Salihu Atawodi (Rtd).
Atawodi, the former Chairman of the Presidential Implementation Committee on Marine Safety, has been accused of misappropriating N600m meant for the purchase of military boats for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
According to Vanguard Newspapers, the retired Airforce officer, allegedly awarded the contract to one Alhaji Rabiu’s Hypertech Nigeria Limited, who was fully paid for the job, but the boats were not supplied.
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC spokesman, confirmed the arrest of Awodi, adding that he is still being interrogated.
Meanwhile, the former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa has denied receiving any money from the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki.
The chairman of Daar Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi was also arrested in connection with the ongoing arms deal by the EFCC.

Dokpesi also said the money he received was meant for the publicity of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election campaign.
