Troops rescue another 234 women, children in Sambisa Forest

According to a statement from the Defence Headquarters, a number of women and children have been evacuated.

 

The military has rescued another set of 234 women and children in Sambisa Forest as troops intensify onslaught to flush out the Boko Haram terrorists from their strongholds.

According to a statement from the Defence Headquarters, the women and children have been evacuated to join other women and children, who were rescued last week, at the screen screening centre.

DHQ said, “This set is in addition to the previous individuals earlier rescued during the ongoing operation in the area.”

“The assault on the forest is continuing from various fronts and efforts are concentrated on rescuing hostages of civilians and destroying all terrorists’ camps and facilities in the forest.”

Women and girls, numbering 293 were rescued from the forest last week. And both the military and the Borno government have said the Chibok girls are not part of the freed Boko Haram captives.
