Terrorists kill another senior officer in Borno

Umar’s death comes less than two weeks after the death of Muhammed Abu-Ali who was viewed as a hero in the fight against Boko Haram.

 

Lieutenant Colonel B.U. Umar was shot dead by insurgents on Tuesday, November 15, between Bita and Piridang, according to Premium Times.

“His vehicle stepped on an improvised explosive device, but he was not hurt,” a source told Premium Times.

“He came out to assess the damage on the vehicle and Boko Haram opened fire and killed him in the process,” the source added.

Umar, the commanding officer of the 114 TF battalion of the Nigerian Army, was reportedly ambushed along with his troops.

Details from the incident are still sketchy as it is yet to be confirmed by the appropriate authorities.

Umar’s death comes less than two weeks after the death of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammed Abu-Ali who was viewed as a hero in the fight against Boko Haram.

Ali was killed on Friday, November 4, during an operation in Mallam Fatori.
