Soldiers rescue girl kidnapped by sect in 2014 [PHOTO]

The 17-year-old girl, identified simply as Farida, is said to have been freed while troops were clearing the Lake Chad basin area of the Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.

The 17-year-old girl, identified simply as Farida, is said to have been freed while troops were clearing the Lake Chad basin area of the Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.

This was disclosed via an announcement made by the local government Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Abdulkarim and posted on Facebook by one Yusuf Gulumbo Muhammed, a native of the area.

The announcement, accompanied with Farida’s photo, reads:

“She was kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014. Her name is Farida, her father's name is Babangida, age, 17.”

“She's from Tawon Ambborsa village of Kebbi State. This young girl suffered for years in the hands of these evils, she was recovered three days go during clearance operation in the Lake Tchad basic area of Gamboru Ngala LG Area.”

“Anybody with the information details of her parents or their whereabouts should please forward them or refer them to the local govt area, G/Ngala, Borno State.”

The army also recently rescued more than 700 people who had been held captive by the sect in Gwoza.
