According to Daily Trust, (Rtd), Shuwa was the first General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army's first Division in his days.
He also commanded the Nigerian Army's first Division during the Nigerian Civil War.

Confirming the arrest, Army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said that the suspect, who was arrested in Kano, will be paraded in the state.
