President Buhari appoints co-ordinator

The appointment of a new coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches.

President Muhammadu Buhari

The meeting by ex-militant warlords headed by Tompolo, and the continuous agitations by youths and women from the Niger-Delta, seems to have yielded results.

President Buhari, in a move that seems like an appeasement, has announced the appointment of a co-ordinator for the Niger-Delta amnesty programme.

A statement released Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina says “The appointment of a new coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches in its implementation such as the non-payment of outstanding allowances to ex-militants.”

Brig. Gen. P.T. Boroh (rtd) is the new co-ordinator of the Niger-Delta amnesty programme.

He replaces Mr. Kingsley Kuku who was also the former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta.
