Governor donates N500,000 each to families of hajj stampede victims

Tambuwal was said to have made the announcement as he received the report of the 2015 hajj committee.

 

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has donated N500,000 each to 138 families of the 2015 hajj stampede victims.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Governor's spokesman, Imam Imam, in Sokoto today, Dec. 22

According to statistics, 114 pilgrims from Sokoto were confirmed dead, 22 are still missing while two are injured and receiving treatment.

Imam said the gesture was in fulfilment of Tambuwal's promise to the affected families when the tragedy occurred in September this year.
