As we closed Day 1 of the Autumn/ Winter presentations, it became clear just how far the industry has come and leading that charge on Day 1 was IAMISIGO representing everything we love about fashion.
Lagos Fashion Week is a beacon of light for the Nigerian fashion industry. Founded by Omoyemi Akerele, every designer we spoke to sang the praises of a woman who has done so much to support and enlarge fashion and design in the country.
Omoyemi has provided an invaluable platform for designers and creatives and given many in the industry the opportunity
If you ask anybody for a list of one of the most fashionable people in Nigeria, Bubu Ogisi would definitely find her way onto it. Not necessarily because she keeps up with trends, but because Bubu is somebody with her finger firmly on what the pulse of Nigerian fashion.
Be it through her styling or her work with her own label, Bubu understands the ever-evolving landscape of the Nigerian fashion industry and remains at the forefront of it.
Her collection on Day 1 of Lagos Fashion Week stood out, not only because of the clothes but because she understands that it does not just stop at the clothes. From the hair, to the makeup to the styling, Bubu understands that the beauty is in all the little details that build up to make something even more spectacular.
We have grown with IAMISIGO and watched it go from its very first collection to the last and the evolution of the label is evident.
As the Nigerian fashion industry grows, so do we all. Learning new techniques, experimenting with different fabrics and aesthetics and in turn all contributing to the creative economy and showing the rest of the world that Nigeria really is a force to recognised and reckoned with.
