Makioba, Modavi Couture, more set to showcase

Makioba, Ara-Ewa Fashion Creation, Perlicious and Modavi Couture are set to showcase new collections at the Plus Size Fashion Week Africa (PFWA).

The womenswear brands join Curve The Plus Size, Agatha Moreno, Luvita Creations and NIIFFE for the first ever edition of the plus size fashion week set to hold on September 2nd 2017.

Themed 'Celebrating The Real African Woman', the debut 2017 edition will attract over 20 designers who will take the stage and exhibition booths to showcase their designs specifically made for the plus sized woman.

The fashion week will also feature exhibitions, business masterclasses, skill acquisition and runway shows. A major highlight of the event is the search for 'Africa’s Next Plus-Size Model' which kicked off on the 1st July, 2017.

The Plus-size Fashion Week Africa was birthed out of the need to stop the stigmatisation and body shaming of the plus-sized woman, we believe that every woman should be comfortable in her skin and body regardless of what the society thinks as long as they are healthy.

Meet The Designers:

1. Makioba

Makioba is a plus size fashion design label based in Lagos, Nigeria. Makioba’s singular aim is to help every woman exercise her right to be fabulous and elegant no matter her size. The brilliantly outspoken eponymous label was founded by Makioba Susan Bob-Manuel Olugbile, a fashion visionary with a unique approach to her craft that has endeared her to fans and followers all over the world. Fusing the best fabrics with universal influences to reinvent contemporary trends beyond the status quo, Makioba’s designs present a unique vision and attitude for the modern woman and her journey into confidence.

2. Araewa Fashion Creation

is the go to brand for that quick stylish go-getter, one who searches constantly for dynamism and elegance. Araewa Fashion Creation is passionate about enhancing the beauty of their clients with their creative designs.

3. Perlicious

is an African trademark born in 2011 and is the brain child of Sarah Codjo. draws inspiration from different African cultures.

Perlicious has three lines:

- A line of hand-made jewels in stones and beads

- A line of handmade luxury clutches and gowns for all Sizes

- A line of handmade beaded kitchen tools.

The brand has been featured in many major campaigns in Benin Republic like Maybelline New York, MTN and lately, FORBES AFRIQUE made an article about it on their website.

4.Modavi Couture

Modavi Couture is a fashion house offering custom fit and ready to wear services. They brand offer services to clients in different dress sizes. Modavi Couture is all about creating fashion pieces that compliment every one regardless of their body size.
