The Times Up movement hit the UK at last nights BAFTAs and whilst everyone wore the customary black the Duchess of Cambridge wore green and it had people a little confused.
The Duchess of Cambridge risked a backlash last night as she broke ranks with actresses and chose not to wear black. Pregnant Kate Middleton, 36, wore a dark forest green gown by British designerJenny Packham following weeks of speculation over whether she would wear black in a public show of support for Hollywood's stance against sexual harassment.
Almost every actress on the red carpet wore black, including A-listers Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie, making the Duchess' choice all the more striking.noticeable.
Kate wore an empire line dress in a deep shade of green, which was accessorised by a dazzling emerald necklace and earrings. She added a black bow above her bump, matching her shoes and a clutch handbag.
Twitter users however were not impressed with Kate's apparent lack of disregard for the dress code and they took to their pages to vent.

However, tradition dictates that the Royal Family avoids anything that could be construed as a political statement. Although Kate could have worn a patterned black gown like she did last year with her off- the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown, to demonstrate she backed the Time's Up movement, but also respected royal protocol.
