Born Abolore Adegbola Akande on the 17 of January 1980 is a Nigerian musician. He grew up in a polygamous home in Bariga, Lagos with four step mothers and eight siblings. 9ice had interest in music and begun song writing in his early teens.
9ice attended CMS grammar school and went ahead to get a law degree from Lagos state university but dropped out in an attempt to focus on a career in music. As a huge fan of Pasuma Wonder 9ice started out his music career in Fuji. He joined a group called Mysterious Boys and they recorded a few tracks and split. In 2000 he recorded his first solo Little money but had to wait 5 years before he became recognized in the Nigerian music industry, which was many thanks to his producer I.D Cabasa. The song which really gained popularity was his reggae styled song Ganja Man in 2006.
Best known for: His hit single Gongo Aso, the song which rocked parties and the club scene in Nigeria, produced by his friend and producer I.D Cabasa. 9ice is known to do a lot of his music in Yoruba, a little English and pidgin as well. 9ice produced music under his own label Alapomeji. Firmly established as a musician of relevance he performed at various shows like the Sound city/MTN Campus Blast tours in 2007 , Mandela's 90th birthday in London (Hyde Park), Star Mega Jam 2007 - 2010, He also headlined sold out shows in Holland and Malaysia in October 2010 to mark his country's 50 years independence anniversary. In 2010 9ice embarked on a European tour covering some parts of Italy, Spain and Switzerland. He has won several awards such as the Hip-hop world awards, MOBO awards, City People Awards, MTV Base Best Hip hop Act and several others
9ice has an ambassadorial position in Globacom as well as others, including UN Youth Ambassador, Lagos State Environmental Ambassador, 46664 Nelson Mandela Charity Organization Ambassador, and Global Public Health Ambassador to Society for Family Health.
Personal life of 9ice
9ice was married to Toni Oluwaseun Payne in 2008 and they have a son together; Zion. The pair split in 2010. He also has twin girls Maya and Miya with Abuja based lover Vicki Gordis.
9ice has decided to get a university degree having dropped out earlier. He is currently in Capella University, doing an online course in Criminal Law and Public Safety will be done by 2015/2016.
