News website gone down, visitors speculate Cyber attack

The BBC website is currently down, displaying error message. And many are suggesting the site has been hacked.

Mixed feelings have trailed the BBC News website that is currently unavailable – the home page of the website shows error message that is similar to when a site is been hacked.

The error message features a creepy version of the old test card clown image surrounded with flames. The number 500 is written on the chalkboard which denotes a 500 Internal Server Error.

Although the BBC News already tweeted an apology and said it’s a technical problem that is being resolved, but many on social media are speculating that it is a cyber attack.

@BBCNews: 'Apologies, as we are experiencing technical problems on the BBC News website. We are working hard to resolve the issues,' the news site appealed.

However, many Twitter users continue to suggest the site is under attack by hackers.

‘BBC news website has gone down... CYBER ATTACK!;’ a tweeter user (@ChrisJ_94) wrote.

Another user (@Malcolm_Oakley) wrote; ‘so ALL of the BBC news site is down. Hmmm me thinks foul play - @BBCNews #bbc #bbcnews.’
