Woman dumps 6-month-old baby at refuse site after fighting with hubby

A young mother has been arrested after she dumped her six-month-old baby at a refuse site after fight with husband.

An abandoned baby

One Annabel Owhoghovo, a resident of Owohelogbo community, Isoko Local Government Area of Delta State, has been arrested for dumping her six-month-old baby at a refuse site after having a quarrel with her husband.

The reason for the fight, according to neighbours, was as a result of the woman's refusal to massage her husband's feet after he came back from work and this led to a heated argument that degenerated into a physical combat where they traded punches.

The fight was said to have continued the following morning and had to be settled by neighbours who heard the scuffle in the couple's home.

Later that day, the woman allegedly told her husband she was going to visit with her mother in Abraka, another part of the state only for her to dump the baby on a waste site in the town.

It was the cries of the baby that attracted the attention of passersby, and she was rescued and taken to the police.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Celestina Kalu, confirmed the incident, adding that the mother had been arrested and is helping the police in their investigations after which she would be charged to court.
