The incident happened in Rumuche Community in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the young man whose name was given simply as a Akor, was trailed to his father's compound at about 10pm, dragged out of bed and shot to death.

A neighbour, Chizi Enyi, said the plea of the mother could not deter the men from snuffing life out the 23-year-old Akor.

“The mother of the man rushed out from her room when the gunmen pounced on their victim to plead on his son’s behalf. Her pleas fell on deaf ears as the hoodlums shot her son in her presence.

Trouble started when a political party bought a cow for Rumuche community. Akor failed to share the cow with other youths in the area.

Some aggrieved cultists killed Akor for failing to produce the cow, which was alleged to be in his possession.”
