Footballer murders mechanic over age difference argument

A budding footballer has been arrested after he was hired to murder someone.

A budding footballer in Yaba area of Lagos State, Nigeria, identified as Jacob, is in the police net after he was arrested for allegedly killing a mechanic, Moruf Sanni.

Reports have it that Jacob was actually hired to beat up the mechanic after he had an argument over age difference with another man simply identified as Somebody.

It was gathered that Moruf and Somebody had an argument over who is older and should be respected and a fight ensued on the night of Sunday, May 24, and some elders in the community intervened and mediated between them.

But the next day, Somebody allegedly invited the footballer turned criminal who is from Afikpo in Ebonyi State, to deal with Moruf and teach him a lesson. But the lesson turned tragic after the 20-year-old Jacob not only beat up the 23-year-old mechanic, but also stabbed him several times in the neck and head until he gave up the ghost.

A resident who witness the murder of Moruf, narrated what happened:

"That fateful Monday, around 7.30 am, I heard people speaking that somebody had been killed.

I did not want to go there, but when I learnt it was Moruf that was involved, I decided to see things for myself.

On getting to the scene, I saw that the boy was dead. He was stabbed in the neck and head. The boy, who killed him, had also been arrested by the community and was chained to the corpse. People put the corpse on his shoulders and asked him to carry his load."
