Readers say a prostitute would always go back to her trade after marriage

Pulse Nigeria Poll voters say a prostitute would always go back to her trade even after marriage.

A sad and confused man

A worried Pulse reader, Alfred, sent in this letter asking for advice on whether he should marry a prostitute he is in love with.

But Pulse Nigeria Poll voters think he would be making a mistake if he follows his heart.

The letter reads:

"My name is Alfred, a 39-year-old man based in Lagos. I am a very bitter man at the moment because my parents are about to truncate my joy and I have vowed to go ahead with what would make me happy.

Until last year, I was engaged to be married to a lady whose parents are family friends and we were literally joined by our families. But the lady turned out to be a man's worse nightmare. Laide is not only lazy, but stubborn, insolent, lousy cook and dirty.

She is used to getting everything done for her by servants and she thought I should be at her beck and call. I had enough of her when she slapped me in front of my business partners who came in from abroad for a meeting. After I dumped her, I decided I had to look for a woman myself and that was how I met Hilda.

In truth, I met her in a night club and I knew she is a prostitute but after two months of seeing her, I fell in love with her because apart from the job she does, Hilda is the dream of any man.

She told me the circumstances that led her into prostitution and that she is ready and willing to dump it. She is one woman I would not want to live without but my parents have sworn never to give us their blessings because she is a 'nobody, a common gold digger with no background'.

I could damn the consequences and get married to her but my father has vowed to disown me and remove me from his will if I do that.

Please I need advice on what steps to follow.

Alfred."
