Police allegedly cause death of Keke rider in Abuja

A tricycle rider who was allegedly pursued by the police had an accident this morning and burnt to death.

The Nigeria Police is yet again under fire after a Twitter user who goes by the name, Bonario Nnags with the handle name, @bonario89, posted a heartrending picture on his handle describing how a hapless Keke (tricycle) rider, lost his life when his Keke was involved in an accident and caught fire when he was trying to escape from some police officers.

According to the Nnags, the incident happened this morning at the Gudu roundabout in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Nnags who said he was an eyewitness to the tearful incident, narrated that some policemen on patrol in a van, were pursuing the tricycle driver and during the chase, the Keke summersaulted and caught fire.

The only passenger in the Keke managed to escape but the driver was not that lucky as he was caught in the inferno which burnt him to death.

To underline the insensitivity of the police, Nnags said they quickly escaped the scene. This action enraged people around who started a protest which could have turned into violence if some military men had not arrived the scene to quell the building riot and dispersed the protesters.
