There was pandemonium on Sunday, July 19, at Dogon-Ruwa village in Kwali Area Council in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), when two suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly abducted a housewife and raped her in the bush and escaped before they could be apprehended.

It was gathered that the incident happened in the afternoon when the 32-year-old woman was returning from the farm with a bunch of firewood.

A resident of the community narrated that the victim was going back home with her daughter when the men suddenly emerged from the bush armed with guns and grabbed at the woman but the young girl was able to escape to the village and raised an alarm.

But by the time the villagers had mobilized and went for a rescue mission, the woman had been raped by the men.

“In fact, it was even one of the woman’s daughters who went to the farm together with her that ran back in tears to report. And before members of the family would mobilise to the scene, they had already escaped.

The victim was hit with sticks on both legs and hands and she could not move. It was God that saved the woman that they did not harm her, because her daughter who ran home to report said the suspects were carrying guns."
