Popular Saraki market razed by fire

The fire started from the early hours of the morning till the afternoon of Wednesday, October 5, 2016.

The incident happened on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in Ilorin, the state capital where the market is located.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the fire began from the early hours of the morning till the afternoon hours.

Sixty shops as well as items that include rice, beans and other consumables were reportedly destroyed.

Mohammed Kazeem, the Public Relations Officer of Kwara State Fire Service said the fire might have been due to an electrical spark when power was restored in the area.

An alliance between fire fighters and people nearby helped to restrict the fire from causing more damages.
