An heartless woman has been arrested for kidnapping her elder sister's children and selling them to child traffickers.

The heartless lady, Faith Nuhu and one of her comrades in crime

A wicked young woman identified as Faith Nuhu, has been arrested after she kidnapped three of her elder sister's children from their home in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, and took them to Owerri, Imo State, where she sold two of the kids to one Evelyn Ojiaku who runs a maternity home for N600,000.

Nuhu who was arrested by detectives from the Abuja Police Command, had reportedly kidnapped the children whose names were given as Grace Musa Idris, 13, Philip Musa Idris, 3, and Paul Musa Idris, 1, on the pretext of going to buy them biscuits, but she took the kids to the motor park and boarded a bus to the east where she sold them to the buyer who was already waiting for her.

It was gathered that Nuhu did not operate alone as she worked with five other persons, including a medical doctor, who are all in the child trafficking syndicate.

A police report states that after abducting her sister's kids, Nuhu in company with other members of her gang on their way to Owerri when they decided to drop the eldest of the children, Grace, along the Abuja-Jos highway because they felt she was too old and was intelligent enough to understand what was going on.

After wandering on the road for hours, a motorist stopped on the road and inquired from the little girl what she was doing on the road and she told them what happened.

The police were informed and after a thorough investigation that took the detectives to several parts of the country, the main culprit was arrested and during interrogation, she confessed to the crime and took the police operatives to Benin, Edo State, and Owerri where the other members of the gang were arrested including Ojiaku, her son, John Ojiaku, Chigozie Goodwill, Elizabeth Onyemaobi, and Dr. Amadi Godwin Uzoma.

When the suspects were paraded by the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, it was discovered that Evelyn Ojiaku operates a private hospital, Royal Maternity/Clinic and Child Service located at Umuyi-Akaba-Ikeduru, Owerri-Okigwe road and also engages in sale of children.

The police also found out that Ojiaku had earlier bought a day-old baby belonging to Nuhu, for N100,000 and urged her to look for children to sell to her.

Child trafficking is now becoming a menace in the society. In August, a 20-year-old woman, Chinwendu Agbo, was arrested by the Enugu State Police Command, for allegedly selling her new born baby boy to a woman identified as Ngozi Eze, for N70,000.
