A 37-year-old man, Sunday Obadele, has been remanded in the Ikoyi prison custody by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly murdering a 63-year-old man, Amuda Abudo, during an heated argument.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie, told the court presided over by The Magistrate O.I. Adelaja, that the suspect murdered the victim on February 17, 2017, at 16, Araromi Street, Oto-Awori area, Ijaniki area of the state.

"The duo had a heated argument which led to a fight between Obadele and the deceased, Amuda Abudo.

During the fight, they both picked up to defend themselves, but Obadele had an upper hand and gave the deceased a deeper cut."

Odigie added that the offences contravened Sections 221 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and the accused may be sentenced to life imprisonment on conviction.

Magistrate Adelaja therefore ruled that the accused should be kept behind bars at Ikoyi Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
