Father of four commits suicide in Akure

A father of four who was frustrated with life has committed suicide in Ondo State.

Frustrated with life, a father of four identified simply as Dayo, has ended it all after he committed suicide by hanging himself on the ceiling of the boys’ quarters of his rented apartment at New Town, Oke-Aro Titun on Idanre Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

According to family sources, Dayo who was a driver, reportedly killed himself on Wednesday, July 22, when he found it difficult to take care of his family.

It was gathered that the deceased had been having problems with owners of vehicles he was driving for commercial purposes in recent times. He was said to have been sacked by two of his employers within three weeks over some issues relating to daily remittance.

An insider reports that the owner of a bus sent him packing while the owner of a taxi asked him to leave a week after and his inability to secure another driving job to take care of his family reportedly pushed him to commit suicide.

According to the police, some of his neighbours who discovered he was not seen, had raised an alarm. The door of the boys’ quarter was said to have been forced open only to discover his dangling body.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident, saying detectives had visited the scene and taken photographs of the deceased.

Ogodo noted that the deceased had left a note instructing his wife and children not to arrest anybody over his death and with the note, there was no suspicion of any foul play in his death as he willingly took his life out of frustration.
