Ghanaian Citizen Confesses He Came To Nigeria To Steal

A Ghanaian citizen who relocated to Nigeria for the purpose of perpetrating his crimes, is now in police net.

Men of the Lagos Police Command, Ikeja, were shocked when a Ghanian member of a five-man robbery gang that specializes in snatching exotic cars, Israel Nana, confessed that his main mission in Nigeria was to rob and steal exotic and expensive cars and other valuables properties before going back to his country as a rich man who spent some time outside the country.

The 30-year-old Nana, confessed during a parade by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, that he had almost accomplished his mission in Nigeria and was preparing to return to Ghana when his cup was filled and he was arrested.

Nana said he came to Nigeria five years ago and had been busy stealing and making money and was almost on the verge of calling it quits before the long arm of the law caught up with him. According to him, he was a notorious criminal in his home town in Kumasi, Ghana, and because of his renowned criminal activities and the fact that Ghanaians do not drive the kind of expensive cars Nigerians drive, he had to relocate to Nigeria to snatch those cars.

On how he came to Nigeria, he said his friend who lives in Nigeria helped him secure passage into the country, adding that, immediately he got into Nigeria, he began stealing and later graduated to car snatching.

You don’t need sophisticated weapons such as guns, pistols and bullets to carry out the operation and it was easy to dispose the cars because a buyer was already ready to pay the money.

On the choice of cars he specialize in stealing, he said the demand for Toyota Cars especially Camry but Honda, Nissan Jeeps and others were very high and that he has buyers who are always ready to come up with the cash.

On his capture, Nana said he was arrested in Rivers State after one Alhaji who buys stolen cars from him was arrested in Abuja a fortnight ago and is was still surprised on what was happening to him because he never thought he would be arrested.
