Court sentence man who killed lover's ex-husband to death by hanging in Delta
A man who murdered his lover's ex-husband has a date to keep with the hangman after a court in Delta sentenced him to death.
Anyali, a mason, was said to be having a sexual relationship with the estranged wife of Ashibuogwu, when the deceased confronted him and a fight ensued, leading to his death.
It was gathered that on one occasion, Ashibuogwu had visited his estranged wife and three-year-old daughter, where he met Anyali in her room and a scuffle ensued and was later settled by neighbours.
On another occasion, Ashibuogwu had again visited the woman who had called him that their daughter was sick only to meet Anyali yet again and the convict became furious on his constant visit and allegedly picked a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest, leaving him in the pool of his blood before he was rushed to the Ogwashi-Uku General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Anyali reportedly fled into the bush that night, but was later fished out the following morning by youths in the area who handed him over to the police at Ogwash-Uku Division.
The sentence was handed down on the convict by the presiding judge, Hon. Justice Cletus Emifoniye, who dismissed the accused’s plea of self defense.
