Cocaine burst

The duo of Patrick Otaka, 48, and 32-year-old Ikechuwku David, are now regretting the love for money that persuaded them to agree to swallow 132 wraps of cocaine weighing 2.7kg for a reward of $5,000 each.

The drug traffickers who were by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, were returning to Nigeria from Kenya aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight.

While parading the suspects, NDLEA Commander at the airport, Ambrose Umoru, said Otaka had ingested 72 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.450kg while David swallowed 60 wraps weighing 1.250kg.

The Ohafia, Abia State born Otaka, is a trader based in Aba while David is an apprentice at the Alaba International Market, Lagos, and they were bringing in the drugs for some barons who were willing to pay them the money.
