The suspects, Chinonye Okere, Joy Ama, Eucheria Amadi, Pauline Uzoamaka and Nnenne Okere, were said to have stolen the child during a funeral and sold him for the amount but was later rescued in Lagos.

The police officer identified as Felix whom the suspects accused of being part of the gang is said to be facing an orderly room trial and would be dismissed and charged to the court if he is found guilty of being part of the child trafficking syndicate.

It was gathered that Okere was the one who stole the child at the funeral ceremony and has confessed to the crime and however implicated Felix, saying he was the one who planned and executed the act with her.
