Actor and rapper fronts new Louis Vuitton ad campaign in a unique way

Following suit, recently, actor and rapper Jaden Smith, son of star actor, Will Smith, snagged a spot in Louis vuitton’s ad campaign with three other young ladies

Over the years, we’ve seen many children of the rich and famous, especially in Hollywood, on the front line of various fashion campaigns. It may not be fair but it is certainly a privilege.

Following suit, recently, actor and rapperJaden Smith, son of star actor, Will Smith, snagged a spot in Louis vuitton’s ad campaign with three other young ladies. Yes, three ladies because it’s a womenswear campaign.

The 17-year-old models an asymmetric skirt and tassled top in the image, which was released on Instagram by Nicolas Ghesquière, the brand’s creative director. The campaign was captured by revered fashion photographer Bruce Weber.

Smith has been an active supporter of the fashion world’s gender-fluidity movement. Brands such as Gucci have also made it hard to determine the gender of its catwalk models, and in 2016 it seems like ad campaigns are following suit.

Jaden’s shown commitment to this movement in the past, as he went neutral dressing wearing a monochrome shift dress to a friend's prom.

Ghesquière in regards to Smith's involvement in the campaign stated: "He represents a generation that has assimilated the codes of true freedom, one that is free of manifestos and questions about gender.

Wearing a skirt comes as naturally to him as it would to a woman who, long ago, granted herself permission to wear a man’s trench or a tuxedo. Jaden smith conveys something very interesting about the integration of a global wardrobe.

He’s found an instinctive balance that makes his extraordinary attitude a new norm. That really inspired me in the creative process for this collection.”

Jaden Smith is perhaps best known for appearing alongside his father Will in 2006 movie The Pursuit of Happiness and being the star of The Karate Kid and has just finished a follow up to the movie.

He's also an successful rapper and avid fashion fan, as seen on his instagram account @Chrisitaingrey.

Jaden isn't the first to star in a high fashion campaign. Last year his little sister Willow, 14, posed for Marc Jacobs in a campaign.
