Lanre Da Silva Ajayi's "Artistic Statement" collection at LFDW 2016

Lanre Da Silva showcased her new collection "Artistic Statement" on the last day 29th October 2016 at the Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week.

The collection explores artistic imagery with edgy and bold pieces making their ways into the collection. The collection done in collaboration with renowned artist, Ayoola Gbolahan got loud cheers everytime a model walked out.

Featuring the signature LDA take on couture in velvet, lace, silk, rich organza with unmissable artistic details, the designer employs the rich mix of laces and embellishment, as staple that works to solidify her famous Victorian creations.

She dares infuse trendy designs mixed with LDA statements for the eternal chic meets elegant looks in the collection. The designs featured hand painted images done on solid colours.

"From the onset, I visualised an artistic imagery which prompted me to work along side renowned artist Mr Ayoola Gbolahan who brought my creative thoughts to life. The beauty of imagination is its limitlessness. I could see and almost smell the feelings they would evoke in every woman. The feeling of not just pride alone but of strength and renowned dignity". LDA revealed about working with artist Ayoola.

"Everything is a symbol with meanings. Images don't just appear in my work as random decorative patterns alone. There's a thought behind everything, a purpose to communicate". According to him everything is a language form to enhance or catalyse a discussion. And fashion has never been more essential in creating a dialogue than now, right here, in this age in which we live in" Ayoola Gbolahan (artist) who collaborated with LDA also revealed about the collection.
