Kaugama, who finished his secondary school education from the academy for the gifted and talented Bamaina School in Jigawa reportedly scored 311 in the examination, which started on Friday, March 9, 2018.
A Facebook user, Mansur Ahmed, who described himself as a media aid to the former Governor of Jigawa State, Dr. Sule Lamido shared the story of Kaugama's academic feat on the social media platform in Hausa language.

“The candidate who got the highest JAMB scores comes from Jigawa Aliyu Muhammad Sani Kaugama is the candidate with the highest JAMB scores so far this year. The brilliant student of Academy for the gifted and talented Bamaina school scored 311 in the matriculation exams that was sat last week.
''There have been calls lately to the Governor Jigawa State to sponsor this young brilliant guy to study abroad so as to reach his maximum potential''.
Although, the 2018 UTME is still ongoing, and it will end on Saturday, March 17, so far, Kaugama's score is the highest in the 2018 edition of the matriculation exam.
