The gods must be crazy

“…I have to wonder if man was a mistake or the gods are just crazy.”

Tornadoes. Avalanches. Landslides. Wildfire. Earthquakes. Hurricanes. Flood. Volcanic eruptions. Tsunamis. The gods must be crazy.

What's wrong with the world?

A lot of things is wrong with this world of ours, and many more could go wrong at the thought of winking the eye. Who should take the blame? Men or the gods?

Man in a bid to improve his surroundings and make himself more comfortable has increased the competition in the world and has unleashed a plethora of complexities for himself and others. What would the world be like without civilization?

Ugrades.

The thought is unimaginable given this life we have come to be accustomed to. The gods must be crazy to allow this. Stuck with the crazy need to ‘upgrade’ ourselves just to stay in ‘touch’ with life goings and doings, we are slowly becoming a shadow of what we could be. Smartphones over friendship and a quick roll in the hay devoid of attachments as replacements for face to face interactions and communications: Technology is taking its toll and we are stuck in the ‘game’ we created.

Phobias

Homophobia, racism, war, stereotypes, gender equality and inequality, beauty promoted above creativity and intelligence, rape, murder… I have to wonder if man was a mistake or the gods are just crazy. Don’t come at me with the things that should supposedly matter: friendship, love, family, respect, tradition, justice; even these value systems have become tainted.

Environment.

Crazy weather. One minute it’s very cold and the next it’s too hot for comfort. The gods must be crazy to play weather as games or man must be for all the years of environmental pollution fast taking its tolls. A result of the “greenhouse effect” it is called.

Race & Religion.

Race is an issue. Religion is too. And it’s all our fault; yours and mine. We caused it: this segregation, this lack of understanding, this division. The earliest men must have been a rebellious bunch, thinking up and creating languages and religions which have cost us so much. The gods must be crazy to have allowed man a brain or men are crazy for putting it to use.

People engaging in charity mostly for their selfish gains, and the government incumbent ‘need’ to depopulate by allowing the introduction of diseases as an avenue to reduce population some would state: talk about democracy. The world is slowly embracing this epidemic at large in all her forms and faces: The gods must be crazy.

Be a smart worker and not a hard worker; I hear this more often than I can keep count. Surprisingly, not too long ago at that, people told me to work hard. How the narrative changes so fast is said to be an effect of age, maybe growing up is a curse after all. If you say hard work is synonymous to success, I would show you a lot of intelligent, religious, manual hard labour workers with no opportunities.

The rich carters for a few children while the poor has more than they could ever carter for. The simple rule they would say they follow; “We are here to multiply”, the gods must be crazy to have given such a rule or mans’ ignorance goes beyond astonishing.

I smiled and said ‘good morning’, he yawned and replied ‘good night’. We were both right in every sense for if we do not work different jobs, we must be on different sides of the compass. The gods must be crazy to shed light on a place and cast shadow on the other. Oh! A reflection of the gods’ mighty acts, some would say.

Men just be naïve, ignorant and overconfident or the gods must be crazy.
