Top Nollywood actress turns 37

Nigeria's most popular actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde AKA Omosexy who is currently celebrating her 20th anniversary in Nollywood adds another year as she turns 37.

Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is one of the most popular names to emerge from the Nigerian movie industry and she adds another year as she turns 37 today February 7, 2015.

Omotola also known as Omosexy begun her rise to being a star actress when she begun her acting career in 1995. To date Omotola has featured in hundreds of high earning movies.

The mother of four was the first Nigerian actress to attend the Grammys, in 2013 she was named as one of Time Magazine's 100 influential people, she is one of the most watched actresses in Africa and in 2014 she was honoured by the Nigerian government as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic. On 9 November 2013, Oba Victor Kiladejo, the royal king of Ondo Kingdom conferred Omotola with a chieftaincy title in her hometown. She was also featured in an exclusive CNN interview.

The Yaba College of Technology graduate begun as a model, succeeded as an actress and tried her hand at music, releasing her first album called Gba in 2005, she has a total of three albums.

For a brief while Omotola had her own reality TV show called Omotola: The Real Me in 2012, and it aired on DSTV making her the first Nigerian celebrity to star in their own reality show

Africa's biggest box office actress is also a philanthropist. Omotola became a United Nations ambassador in 2005 and runs her own NGO project, called the Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme .

Omosexy married her pilot husband Captain Matthew Ekeinde in 1996 . The pair have have four children, Princess, M.J, Meriaih and Michael.
